Demonstration outside the Indian Embassy in Ottawa, Saturday, January 21 at 1pm
Partisan #15 • January 13, 2012
For a second consecutive year, an International Week of Solidarity with the People’s War in India will be held from January 14 to 22. Various actions will happen in several countries to support the Communist Party of India (Maoist) and the popular revolution against imperialism it currently leads.
Here in Canada, the Revolutionary Communist Party is calling for a rally outside the Indian Embassy in Ottawa, on Saturday, January 21 at 1pm. The rally will show our solidarity with all those who are fighting for freedom and the emancipation of our millions of brothers and sisters in India. We will loudly condemn the complicity of the Canadian imperialist state in aiding India in the brutal suppression of the aspirations of the people. We will also take the opportunity to honour the memory of Comrade Kishenji, a leader of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), who was recently tortured and murdered after being lured into an ambush.
Why is it so important to show our solidarity with the revolution in India? Because the people’s war currently unfolding in that country is among the most important anti-imperialist and revolutionary struggles in the world and because it represents a hope for all the oppressed people. At a time where millions of people are expressing their outrage and their willingness to end the exploitative capitalist system in Europe, in Arab countries and even here in North America, the workers and peasants in India show that it is possible to fight for a new world.
Millions of peasants, poor workers, members of lower castes, women, youth and the various indigenous peoples of this country are struggling to free themselves from exploitation and oppression. People’s War in India is the masses’ response to poverty and the intolerable living conditions prevailing as a result of the harsh capitalist exploitation, the persistence of caste oppression and the plunder of natural resources for the benefit of the Indian bourgeoisie and world imperialism.
The People’s War has been going on for decades in the countryside where the contradictions are most acute. The revolution in India is now growing and progressing as it rallies masses of young people, students and revolutionary intellectuals in the cities. It’s goal is to overcome a system that condemns the vast majority of men and women to exploitation, poverty and slavery.
The People’s War continues to face harsh repression by the Indian government, which has launched a military offensive against the revolutionaries that is called “Operation Green Hunt.” This massive military campaign began two years ago and involves some 100,000 militias led by elite troops enjoying the most modern weapons, courtesy of US imperialism. Thousands of police units and paramilitary militias are crisscrossing towns, villages and the countryside with a mission to spread terror and genocide. Thousands of raids have been perpetrated during which troops destroyed thousands of hectares of crops and forced people to starvation. In addition, Operation Green Hunt has in fact offered legal protection to soldiers who rape women and selective assassinations while arbitrary imprisonment and mass disappearances are spreading.
The heroic resistance from the Indian revolutionary masses inspires the world peoples; our solidarity must be translated into action. It is in this spirit that the Revolutionary Communist Party calls on all progressive and internationalist activists, the proletarians, women and the youth to organize and take part in various events in solidarity with the revolution in India. It is the people and the people alone who can defeat the predatory capitalists and build a new society —a socialist one based on freedom and mutual solidarity. The People’s War in India is forwarded by the same force of the working class and oppressed masses that the PCR-RCP seeks to organize in order to revolutionize society.
Solidarity with the revolutionary masses in India!
Solidarity with our comrades fell in battle, as with those who persevere with strength and determination and all the others who are joining them in the struggle for people’s liberation!
Lal Salaam!
